Family History
I have traced the Grummett family to Lincolnshire, where Joseph Grummett, a rope maker, married Sarah Parker in Lincoln in 1846. They moved several times, first to Gainsborough, then to Nottingham. Their children included Samuel Whyers Grummett, born in 1851. He took up a trade as a builder and was married at Shakespear Street Methodist Chapel in 1873 to Tracey Myatt. They had two children - Elizabeth born in 1874 and Joseph William born in 1876.Joseph William Grummett married Florence Beatrice Bell in 1899 and they lived in the area of Nottingham called Forest Fields. Their children were Samuel Bell, Horace William, Gladys May, Winston Lowell, Florence Beatrice, Lucy Mary, and Ivy. Ivy died in infancy, aged 3. They were all members of the Rawson Street Methodist Church; Joseph was a Lay Preacher.
Lucy Mary, born in 1916, married Frederic Nix in 1942 at Rawson St Methodist Church.
